Leap of Faith
"Look, Howard," I pointed. "It looks like Heaven!" Sure enough, the bricks lining the walkway glistened in the morning dew leading a path up the slope to where the early sun was shining through the trees.
Another early walker was holding her little terrier on a leash, the dog barking furiously at a squirrel scurrying up a tree. Higher and higher it balanced precariously on fragile twigs and limbs, the dog barking more furiously.
Finally, there was nothing for it for the squirrel to take a precarious leap to a wind-blown limb on a neighboring tree. I held my breath as the squirrel sailed across the chasm of nothingness below, landing safely on the limb twig.
I'm sure Howard has landed safely at his destination, his leap of faith carrying him home.
